What is it?

The Empire Hotel and Country Club is one of the grandest hotels in Asia. It sits on the coast of Brunei with its own private beach, enormous swimming pools, and gardens full of tropical plants. The inside has marble floors, golden ceilings, and an atrium so tall it feels like standing in a cathedral made of light.

The hotel's grand atrium rises many storeys into the air, with a ceiling made mostly of glass so that sunlight floods in from above. The floors are polished marble and the walls are decorated with intricate carvings and gold leaf. Walking through it feels like stepping into a very friendly palace.

Outside, the grounds spread across a wide area of coast. There are swimming pools of different sizes - some fed by water slides - and a private beach where guests can swim in the warm South China Sea. The tropical garden is filled with flowers, fountains, and paths that wind between palm trees.

The hotel also has a country club with a golf course, bowling lanes, a cinema, and a spa. It was designed to be a complete resort so that guests can spend days exploring everything without ever leaving the grounds. For local Bruneians it is also a place to hold big celebrations and special family events.
